Future
generations of wireless communications systems will deal with the presence of
several different standards and a wide variety of services. This poses the
problem of providing seamless IP-based connectivity to users. Software Radio
(SR) infrastructure nodes and terminals can be configured in order to handle
different standards and types of services. Motivated by the intensive activity
on software radio technologies, the Wireless3G4Free team has implemented a
real-time software radio communication platform to validate advanced mobile
communication algorithms at all layers of the protocol stack. The platform is
conceived so as to promote both industrial and academic collaboration and is already
being used as a flexible testbed for integrating
technological innovations from a variety of partners.
The scope of our work consists of three primary components
Research Conventional and advanced signal
processing algorithms analysis, design, testing, as well as experimentation
with new services
Education Our real-time platforms provide
full-RF functionality for student training & development activity.
Partnership We provide an open-platform for
both software and hardware experimentation and encourage collaboration with
both academic and industrial partners.
